Alonso is a bilingual middle school ELL teacher in the Roseville area school district in Minnesota. He is a passionate educator who was once an ELL student, having immigrated from Chile to the USA. His own experiences inspired him to become a teacher, and he started his career in education as a literacy instructor at the Minnesota Reading Corps after graduating from Augsburg University. Alonso received his teaching license from St. Thomas University and taught students in kindergarten through second grade. Alonso is known for creating an inclusive classroom environment, incorporating bilingual teaching strategies, and helping his students thrive academically and emotionally. Outside of teaching, Alonso enjoys long walks with his wife and their dog.
